Great for scones, Parker House rolls, cinnamon or orange rolls. Mix 2 tablespoons yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. Add 1/2 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon salt. Meanwhile, melt 1 cube butter and beat in 2 eggs. Add to yeast with 2 cups warm water and 6 to 7 cups flour to make soft dough. Knead. Let rise 45 minutes to 1 hour. Scones: It is now ready to deep fry. Roll out and cut in desired shapes. Parkerhouse Rolls: Roll out in squares or circles. Dip in melted butter. Fold in half and place in pan. Raise 15 to 30 minutes. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Cinnamon Rolls: Roll out 1/4 inch. Spread with 1 cube butter. Sprinkle generously with cinnamon and brown sugar. Roll jellyroll, cut. Raise and bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes. Orange Rolls: Melt 1 cup butter. Add grated orange peel from 1 orange. Spread on dough, sprinkle generously with white sugar and coconut. Raise. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes. ICING: 1/2 cube butter 2 to 3 tbsp. canned milk 2 c. powdered sugar Ice warm rolls. |
