EMILY WHITE CAKE (AUNT LUTIE) 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 c. milk
3 c. cake flour
3 level tsp. baking powder
Salt
3 egg whites
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening, add sugar and cream together. Sift flour and baking powder together 3 times alternate flour and milk, add vanilla, and beat well, then fold in egg whites. Makes 2 (9 inch) or 3 (8 inch) layers.
