CORN DOGS 
1 lb. frankfurters
1 c. sifted flour
2 tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2/3 c. cornmeal
2 tbsp. shortening
3/4 c. milk
1 egg

Sift dry ingredients, stir in cornmeal, cut in shortening. Combine beaten egg with milk and mix together with dry ingredients until well blended. Insert wooden skewers into franks, cover franks with batter and fry until brown. Drain off oil and serve.
