FRUIT BARS 
1 stick butter
1 1/3 c. light brown sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
1 c. plain flour, sifted
1 tbsp. vanilla
1/2 lb. candied cherries, chopped
6 slices candied pineapple, cut
2 c. chopped nuts

Grease and flour 9"x13"x2" pan. Sprinkle in 2 cups nuts in bottom of pan. Cream together sugar and butter. Add eggs, flour and vanilla. Spread batter over nuts. Dampen hands to spread batter. Spread chopped fruit over batter and press with dampened hands. Bake about 1 hour and 15 minutes in a 300 degree oven or until a straw inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool before slicing into bars or squares. Store in tight container.
