2 tsp. lemon juice
A little lemon zest
1/4 cup of water
1/4 tsp. of vanilla

Combine 1/2 sugar, lemon juice, a little lemon zest, water, vanilla, and cinnamon.

Combine 1/2 sugar, flour, salt, butter (make sure butter is softened), and a little cinnamon.

Crumble and sprinkle 2nd combination over apples evenly.

Bake at 375°F for 40-50 minutes until apples are tender and crust is browned.

Serve, best with warmed vanilla ice cream.

Emily's Easy Apple Crisp

Wow, great recipe Emily! My changes: I left out the lemon zest (personal preference), and used brown sugar in the topping instead of white. I also used very cold butter and cut it into the dry ingredients like making pastry. I used 6 granny smith apples, and an 11 X 7 glass pan (Next time I will use 5 apples). The filling was a little soupy, I think I cut the apples too thin. Also, I think I will leave out the water. All in all, this recipe is a winner!

This recipe doesn't say how many people it's supposed to feed, and doesn't say the exact size of pan to use. However, this is the BEST apple crisp we have ever had!!!!

I substituted the sugar for baking Splenda and add a tiny bit more cinnamon so my diabetic husband could enjoy it. It's great and easy recipe!

I served this dessert on Christmas Eve, and my husband said it was the best dessert I'd ever made. I used brown sugar instead of white. The lemon juice and zest perks up the flavor.

Was great but left out the zest and vanilla to allow true apple flavors to come through... Added a bit of oatmeal to the topping and I used brown sugar instead of the white sugar to topping mixture and loved the results!!! (used a combination of apples ... Sweet & tart)

This recipe is amazing! Followed it exactly. For the last 5 minutes in the oven, I turned on the broiler and let it get crispy and brown. Make sure to watch it carefully so it doesn't burn. Served it with Vanilla bean ice-cream and my guests loved it!
