OVERNIGHT BUNS | |
1 pkg. yeast 1/2 c. warm water 1 tsp. sugar 1/2 c. shortening, melted 1/2 c. sugar 1 tbsp. salt 3 c. potato water 1/2 c. mashed potatoes 7 c. flour (more or less) Mix together 1 package yeast, 1/2 cup warm water, and 1 teaspoon sugar. Let stand 15 minutes. Add 1/2 cup shortening (I use Crisco) melted; 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon salt, 3 cups potato water and 1/2 cup mashed potatoes. Add about 7 cups flour. Knead well. Put dough in a greased bowl. Let stand overnight in refrigerator. In the morning shape into buns or cinnamon rolls. Let rise until very light. Bake in a 400 degree oven for about 12 or 15 minutes. (Some ovens may take a lower temperature.) Dough will be soft!!! Very good. |
