CARAMEL BARS | |
1 c. butter, softened 1 1/2 c. flour 1 1/2 c. oatmeal 1 c. brown sugar 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 pkg. vanilla caramels 1/2 c. Carnation or half and half 1 c. chocolate chips 1 c. chopped nuts Melt caramels with half and half in double boiler. Meanwhile, mix together first seven ingredients. Press half of mixture on bottom of a lightly greased 9"x13" cake pan. Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Sprinkle chips and nuts over baked crust. Slowly pour caramel mixture over all. Dot remaining crust mixture over top. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until golden at 350 degrees. |
