OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP CAKE 
1 3/4 c. hot water
1 c. uncooked oatmeal
1 c. lightly packed brown sugar
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. butter
2 extra lg. eggs
1 3/4 c. unsifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. cocoa
1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
3/4 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Pour hot water over oatmeal and butter. Add brown and white sugar and stir until butter melts. Add eggs, mix well. Add flour, soda, salt and cocoa. Mix well. Add 1/2 bag chocolate chips. Pour into greased and floured 9x13 inch pan or jelly roll pan. Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 bag chocolate chips and nuts. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 40 minutes in 9x13 inch pan or 20 minutes in jelly roll pan or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
