DUTCH BUTTER BARS 
2 1/4 c. flour
3/4 c. sugar
2 sticks butter
Applesauce butter (or your favorite preserves)

Mix together flour, sugar and butter. Place 3/4 of above mixture in a 9 inch pie pan and pat down. Spread a thin layer of apple sauce butter over mixture and then sprinkle with the 1/4 of remaining mixture. Bake at 350 degrees 35 to 40 minutes, until golden. Place immediately in refrigerator for a crunchy outer crust with smooth middle. For an extra healthy pie, replace white flour with whole wheat.
