DILL PICKLE 
4 c. white vinegar (5% acidity)
8 c. water
1 c. pickling salt (not iodized)
1 garlic bud per jar
1 hot pepper per jar
1 lg. clump fresh dill per jar
1/8 tsp. alum per jar
Fresh cucumbers (strips, slices or chunks)

Pack 8 quart jars with last 5 ingredients. Bring vinegar, water and salt to boil. Pour over cucumbers and seal. Be sure to wipe rim well as salt will prevent sealing.
