SOFT PRETZELS | |
1 pkg. yeast 1 1/2 c. warm water 1 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. sugar 4 c. flour 1 lg. egg, beaten Coarse salt (Kosher salt) Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add salt and sugar. Blend in the flour and knead the dough until smooth (5 minutes). As soon as dough is kneaded, cut it into small pieces and roll the pieces into ropes. Twist into pretzel shapes. Place on greased (or paper lined) cookie sheets. Brush pretzels with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt. Bake immediately in a 425 degree oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until browned. These do not keep for a long time (freeze extras). |
