BAKLAVAS MEH MELA 
3 c. apples, peeled and shredded
1 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. chopped almonds, toasted
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. raisins
2 tsp. grated lemon peel
2 tbsp. lemon juice
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 lb. phyllo
1 lb. butter, clarified (melted and warm)
1/2 c. honey

In a large bowl, combine apples, walnuts, almonds, sugar, raisins, lemon peel, lemon juice, and cinnamon; mix well. Trim phyllo to pan size. Place 8 sheets of phyllo in buttered 15 x 10 baking pan, brushing each sheet generously with butter.

Cover evenly with half of apple and nut mixture. Add 6 more buttered phyllo sheets. Spread remaining mixture. Top with 8 buttered phyllo sheets. Cut into diamonds or squares.

Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until golden brown. Warm honey and drizzle over hot baklava. Cool. Serves 30.
