ALMOND TARTS 
1 c. shortening (half butter)
1 c. granulated sugar
1 egg, unbeaten
1 tsp. almond extract
2 1/2 c. flour

Cream shortening, add sugar and cream well. Mix in egg and extract. Add flour, little at a time to make dough stiff. Mix flour with a spoon.

FILLING:

Mix with spoon: 1/2 c. granulated sugar 1 egg

Add in: 1 c. crushed vanilla wafers 1/8 tsp. almond extract

Mix with spoon.

Pinch off small amount of dough. Press dough in tart pan thin and even. Fill with filling. Bake at 375 oven or until lightly brown. Cool.
