SPICY PERSIMMON CAKE 
2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. shortening
2 c. persimmon pulp
2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. raisins
1 c. chopped dates
2 c. chopped walnuts
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream together sugar and shortening then stir in persimmon pulp. Sift dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture. Fold in fruits and walnuts then add vanilla and stir in. Place batter in greased and floured tube pan. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until cake tests done.
