HEARTY CLAM CHOWDER 
4 slices bacon, cut up
3 green onions, chopped
5 med. potatoes, peeled and cubed
1 clove garlic, minced
2 tbsp. green pepper diced
1 carrot finely sliced
2 c. water
4 drops Tabasco sauce
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 c. chopped clams
1 pt. light cream or skimmed evaporated milk

Saute bacon until crisp, drain off grease. Add onion and saute. Add potato, pepper, celery, carrot and garlic. Pour in water and add seasonings. Cover and simmer 15 minutes until vegetables are tender. Mash ingredients with potato masher or puree in processor. In separate pan heat clams in own juice until hot. Add clams to vegetable mixture, pour in cream and heat. Do not allow mixture to boil. Serves 4-6.
