SAVORY CHEESE BREAD 
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/2 tsp. basil leaves
1/2 tsp. oregano leaves
1/2 to 1 tsp. lemon pepper, if desired
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 lb. loaf unsliced French bread
8 oz. cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese

Heat oven to 350 degrees. In small bowl, combine butter, basil, oregano, lemon pepper and garlic; blend well. Cut bread into 1 inch slices; cut cheese into same number of slices. Spread bread with butter mixture; place slice of cheese between each bread slice. Wrap in foil. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes or until cheese is melted. Serve warm. 1 loaf.
