BROWNIES WITH RAISINS 
1 c. raisins or dates
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. boiling water
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
3 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 c. chocolate chips
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. all-purpose flour

Soak raisins and soda in water. Set aside. Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, 1 at a time. Sift in flour and cocoa; add to cream mixture. Stir in raisin mixture and chocolate chips. Fold in nuts and vanilla. Spread in a greased and floured 10 x 15 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees 45 minutes.
