OATMEAL BREAD 
1 c. quick oats
1/2 c. whole wheat flour
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 tbsp. salt
2 c. boiling water
1 pkg. yeast
1/2 c. warm water
5 c. white flour (or 2 1/2 c. white flour and 2 1/2 c. whole wheat flour)

Combine oats, 1/2 cup whole wheat flour, butter, brown sugar and salt. Pour over 2 cups boiling water and stir to combine. Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. When batter is "lukewarm", fling in the yeast mixture. Stir in the white flour. When dough is stiff enough to handle, put on floured board and knead 5 to 10 minutes. Place in greased bowl, cover, let rise until doubled. Shape into 2 loaves and put in 2 bread pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes.
