BUTTERSCOTCH BROWNIES | |
1/4 c. butter 1 c. light brown sugar 1 egg 1/2 c. flour, sifted 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. double-action baking powder 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. walnuts, coarsely chopped Melt butter over low heat, remove from heat. Stir in brown sugar until blended and cool. Stir in egg. Sift together and stir in flour, double-action baking powder and salt. Stir in vanilla and walnuts. Spread in well greased and floured square pan, 8 x 8 x 2 inches. Bake 20 to 25 minutes in moderate 350 degree oven. (Appears soft when removed from oven because interior is supposed to be soft.) Cut while warm into squares. |
