APPLE NUT CAKE 
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 c. Wesson oil
1 c. coconut
1/2 c. orange juice
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. grated raw apples
3 c. plain flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix sugar, eggs and oil; blend well. Add orange juice and vanilla. Sift all dry ingredients together. Add apples, coconut and nuts; mix well. Bake in a tube pan for 1 1/2 hours at 325 degrees.

SAUCE:

Prepare this 30 minutes before cake is finished baking. Melt 1 stick butter. Add 1 cup sugar, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda and 1/2 cup buttermilk. Bring to a full boil. When the cake is done pour sauce over cake and let stand for 1 hour before removing from pan.
