SPLIT PEA SOUP | |
1 lb. dried split peas 1 1/2 lbs. ham hock or ham bone with meat 1 diced carrot 1 med. onion 1 rib celery, diced 2 qts. water 1 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 3/4 tsp. allspice Wash and sort peas. Combine peas and all other ingredients in crock pot. Cook 4-5 hours until vegetables are tender. Remove ham bone and cool. If desired, blend soup to puree. Return soup to crock pot and add meat. Heat and serve. |
