BLONDE BROWNIES 
1 c. flour (self-rising)
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts (opt.)

Cream together shortening, egg, vanilla and brown sugar. Then blend in flour and nuts until well blended. Bake in 9"x9"x2" pan at 325 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Cool then cut.
