DATE NUT COOKIES 
1 c. packed brown sugar
1/3 c. soft butter
1/4 c. milk
2 eggs
1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. cinnamon

FILLING:

1 c. chopped dates
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 c. water
1 tbsp. lemon juice
3 tbsp. chopped walnuts

Prepare filling. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix brown sugar, butter, milk and eggs in a bowl. Stir in remaining ingredients. Drop dough by teaspoons on an ungreased cookie sheet. Top each with 1/2 teaspoon of date nut filling. Top filling with 1/2 teaspoon of dough. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Immediately remove from cookie sheet. Makes 3 dozen.
