TEMPURA BUTTER | |
3/4 c. flour 1/4 c. cornstarch 1 tsp. sugar 1 tsp. oil 3/4 tsp. baking powder 1 (12 oz.) beer (flattened) Pour the flour, cornstarch, sugar, oil and baking powder into a mixing bowl. Add the flat beer slowly, bringing the consistency of the batter to that of a pancake batter. (Normally about 3/4 of a cup of beer). From here anything you want to deep fry is fair game. Wash and pat dry the fryables. This will help to keep the oil from foaming. Coat with the batter and drop into hot oil. The batter will fluff. If it fluffs but has holes in it the beer wasn't flat enough. |
