1 pkg. angel food cake mix 1/2 - 1 tsp. almond extract 1 c. marshmallow creme, divided 1 (21 oz.) can cherry pie filling, divided 1/4 c. sliced almonds, toasted, divided Prepare cake mix as directed except add the almond extract to the water. Bake and cool as directed. Remove from pan. Split cake to make two layers by marking side of cake with wooden toothpicks. Cut with serrated knife. Place bottom layer on serving plate. Spoon 2/3 cup marshmallow creme on the bottom layer. Spoon 1 cup pie filling between spoonfuls of marshmallow creme. Sprinkle with half the almonds. Place other layer on top. Spoon remaining marshmallow creme and pie filling on top of cake. Sprinkle top with remaining marshmallow creme and pie filling on top of cake. Sprinkle top with remaining almonds. NOTE: You can use a bought cake and omit the almond extract. |
