SOFT MOLASSES COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
1 c. butter
2 eggs
1 c. dark molasses
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. baking soda
3 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Cream butter, add sugar and cream well. Add beaten eggs, molasses, flour mixed and sifted, with soda and spices, alternately with sour cream and the cream of tartar. Add enough more flour to make a soft dough. Chill.

Then knead on floured board and roll out about 1/4 inch thick. Cut with large round cookie cutter. Bake on greased pan in 350 degree moderate oven for 15 minutes. Frost with plain icing.
