RIBS AND SAUERKRAUT 
3-4 lbs. country ribs, cut in pieces
Salt and pepper to taste
1 qt. sauerkraut
1/2 head cabbage, thinly sliced
1 lg. onion, thinly sliced
1 apple, quartered, cored, sliced
1 tsp. caraway seeds (optional)
1 c. water
1 tsp. salt

Salt and pepper ribs. Brown for 30 minutes in heavy skillet or broiler pan. Alternate layers of ribs, kraut, cabbage, onion and apple in crock pot. Add seeds to water and pour over all. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours. May use all kraut or all cabbage.
