SWEET PICKLES (9 WEEKS) | |
Lg. mouth gallon jug White vinegar Gallon of cucumbers 4 lbs. of sugar 1 tbsp. pickling salt 3 drops oil of cloves Wash and dry cucumbers. Cut tip off of each end. Stuff into jar as many cukes as will fit. Cover with vinegar and salt. Put on lid and set aside for 6 weeks. At the end of 6 weeks empty vinegar off cucumbers and slice them into rings. Layer back into jar with the sugar. (Make sure you use all of the 4 pounds of sugar). Put oil of clove on top. Put lid back on and set aside for another 3 weeks. May need to shake jar occasionally to assure all sugar melts. You can keep pickles in the gallon jug or transfer to jars. Chill several hours before serving. |
