POLISH CABBAGE 
1/2 lb. salt pork, cubed
1 onion, chopped
1 lg. cabbage, shredded
1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes, cut up (preferably Pinecone brand)
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tbsp. caraway seeds
Salt & pepper to taste

SAUCE: Brown cubed salt pork in a frying pan. Add 1 onion, chopped; 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes with juice; 1 tablespoon brown sugar; 1 tablespoon caraway seeds and salt and pepper to taste. Simmer 20 minutes.

Add cabbage to large pot, pour above mixture over cabbage, mix, cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours. Stir cabbage and sauce occasionally. Taste best when made day ahead and reheated. Especially good with ham or pork and sweet bread. (Babka or Portuguese.)

Serves 8.
