DILL-COTTAGE CHEESE BREAD | |
2 tbsp. chopped onion 1 tbsp. butter 1 pkg. active dry yeast 1/4 c. water 1 c. lg. curd cottage cheese 1 tbsp. sugar 2 tsp. dill seed 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1 egg 2 1/4 c. flour Cook onion in butter until tender. Soften yeast in water. Heat cottage cheese to lukewarm. In mixing bowl combine all ingredients except flour. Add enough flour to make a stiff dough, beating well after each addition. Cover and let rise until doubled. Stir down and put into well greased loaf pan. Let rise again until doubled (light). Bake in 350 oven for approximately 1/2 hour. Cover with foil last 15 minutes. Brush with soft butter. Makes 1 regular loaf or 4 small loaves. |
