2 c. sliced peaches 1 1/2 c. sliced red plums 1/2 c. blueberries or raspberries 3/4 c. sugar 2 tbsp. water 1 c. flour 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. sugar 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar 1/8 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. baking soda 1/4 c. shortening 1/4 c. milk In 10 inch skillet, combine first 5 ingredients. Cover and simmer 5 minutes. Meanwhile in mixing bowl, mix flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar, salt, baking soda. Cut in shortening until coarse crumbs form. Make a well in center of mix. Add milk. Stir until dough clings together. On floured surface, knead dough 10 to 12 strokes. |
