1 c. sugar
1/4 c. lard
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
1 1/2 c. flour
2 tbsp. cocoa, sifted
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. boiling water

Stir first 5 ingredients well to a creamy paste. Add flour and cocoa. Put soda into boiling water and stir in the last thing.

Bake at 350°F until done.
