DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE | |
2/3 c. shortening 2 1/4 c. sifted cake flour 2 c. sugar 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. baking powder 1 1/4 c. milk 3 eggs 3 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted Stir shortening just to soften. Sift in dry ingredients. Add 1/2 cup of the milk; mix until all flour is dampened. Beat vigorously 2 minutes. Add remaining milk, eggs, melted chocolate, and 1 teaspoon red food coloring. Beat vigorously 2 minutes longer. Bake in 2 paper lined 9 x 1 1/2 inch round pans at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until done. |
