FUDGE RIBBON CAKE 
2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. soft shortening
1 1/2 c. milk
2 eggs
4 oz. unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 tsp. vanilla

CHEESE MIXTURE:

2 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 egg
2 tbsp. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour bottom of 9"x13" pan. Combine dry ingredients, add shortening and 1 cup milk; blend at lowest speed. Add remaining ingredients and 1/2 cup milk. Continue to beat for 1 1/2 minutes. Spread half of batter in pan, spoon cheese mixture, spread carefully to cover. Top with remaining batter; spread to cover. Bake for 50 to 55 minutes. Cool and frost.
