NEVER FAIL SPONGE CAKE 
6 eggs, separated
2/3 c. cold water
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Separate eggs. Beat egg yolks 5 minutes. Add water and sugar, beating 4 minutes. Sift together flour and salt; stir into yolks. Beat egg whites frothy, add cream of tartar and beat until they hold peaks. Fold into yolk mixture.

Bake at 350°F for about 1 hour in tube pan.
