MOM'S BUTTER BEANS 
2 cans butter beans liquid
1 sm. onion, chopped
1/2 lb. bacon, cut up
1/2 c. packed brown sugar (add more to taste and thicken, if needed)
1 tsp. molasses (optional)

Fry bacon and onion in skillet, slowly. Open cans of butter beans. Drain half of the liquid from only 1 can. Save all of the liquid from the second can. Pour both cans of butter beans into the bacon and onion and grease in the skillet. Stir. Add brown sugar and molasses, if desired, and stir. Cover and cook over low heat for 30 minutes, stirring often.
