DILLY CASSEROLE BREAD | |
1 pkg. dry yeast 1/4 c. water, warm 1 c. lg. curd cottage cheese 2 tbsp. sugar 1 tbsp. instant minced onion or fresh onion 1 tbsp. butter 2 tsp. dill seeds 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1 egg 2 1/4 - 2 1/2 c. flour Sprinkle the yeast over the warm water, stirring to dissolve. Add the cottage cheese and beat until it cools to lukewarm. Combine in a bowl with the sugar, onion, salt, dill seed, butter, soda and egg. Add the flour gradually, beating well after each addition, to make a stiff batter. Cover and let rise in a warm place until double in size. (About 1 hour.) Stir down and turn into a well greased 1 1/2 quart round casserole. Cover and let rise until light, 30 to 40 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes. Cover the last 15 minutes with foil. Makes 1 loaf. |
