CHOCOLATE-FILLED BONBONS 
3/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. finely chopped pecans
3 dozen milk chocolate kisses, unwrapped
Sifted powdered sugar

Combine first 3 ingredients; beat at medium speed of an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add egg and flavorings; mix well. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and pecans; add to creamed mixture, beating well.

Shape dough into 36 (1 inch) balls. Press each ball around a chocolate kiss, covering completely; place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 14 minutes. Cool cookies slightly on wire racks; roll in powdered sugar. Cool completely before storing. Yield: 3 dozen.
