OATSIES 
2 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1/4 cup dark corn syrup (Karo)
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 400°F. Grease 9x9-inch baking pan.

In medium bowl, mix oats and brown sugar. Stir together butter, syrup, salt and vanilla. Mix thoroughly into oat mixture. Press dough evenly into bottom of pan.

Bake at 400°F for 8 to 10 minutes or until top bubbles. Cool.

TOPPING:

1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate pieces, melted
1/4 cup chopped nuts

Spread melted chocolate on top. Sprinkle nuts on chocolate. Chill in refrigerator for 1 hour. Cut into 2x1-inch bars.

Makes about 32 bars.
