COUNTRY PEAR CAKE 
5 ripe pears
Yellow cake mix
1/4 c. milk
2 or 3 eggs, depending on size
3/4 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. cake flour (can use whole wheat)
Bread crumbs
Real whipped cream

Peel and seed pears. Slice them into no larger than 1/2 inch wide slices. Set aside and let them weep. Make the cake batter. Add milk and eggs. Add sugar and mix well. Add flour and mix until you make a batter. Add the pears. Butter a 9 inch cake pan. Sprinkle with the bread crumbs. Add the batter. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 45 to 55 minutes. Serve with whipped cream.
