DANISH PUFF PASTRY
1 c. flour
2 tbsp. water
1/2 c. butter

Measure flour into bowl. Cut in butter. Sprinkle with water and mix with fork or put into food processor into a ball. Divide in half. Pat dough firmly into 2 strips 12"x2" each, placing 2" apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Set aside.

STEP TWO:

1 c. water
1/2 c. butter
1 c. flour
3 eggs
1 tbsp. almond flavoring

Bring water and butter to rolling boil, add almond flavoring and remove from heat. Quickly stir in flour so as to keep it from lumping. When smooth and thick, add eggs, one at a time, beating until smooth. Divide in half and spread one half over each piece of pastry. Bake at 350 degrees for 60 minutes until top is crisp and nicely browned. When cool, frost with confectioners' sugar and garnish with cherries, nuts or candied fruit.
