NEVER-FAIL CHOCOLATE CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening (liquid)
3 tbsp. cocoa
Dash of salt
2 eggs
1/2 c. milk (sour or sweet)
2 c. flour (don't sift)
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. boiling water
2 tsp. vanilla

Combine the first 4 ingredients and mix well. Add eggs, milk and flour. (Boil water now.) Mix. Add soda and boiling water and mix. Add vanilla. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes in long pan.
