1 c. dates, chopped
1 c. hot water
1 c. butter
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. cocoa
1 c. chocolate chips
1/2 c. chocolate chips
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Mix chopped dates and hot water. Put in a small bowl and set aside. Cream butter and white sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat, then add date mixture. Sift together flour, soda and cocoa and add to other mixture. Stir in 1 cup chocolate chips. Put in greased and floured 9"x13" pan. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup chocolate chips and chopped nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
