1 1/4 c. boiling water poured over 1 c. oatmeal (let stand 20 minutes)
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 tbsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg

May add raisins. Add all above ingredients to oatmeal. Bake at 350 degrees. DO NOT REMOVE FROM THE PAN.

ICING:

1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
3 tbsp. cream
1/2 c. chopped nuts
3/4 c. shredded coconut

Boil until bubbly. Spread evenly on cake.
