LAZY DAISY OATMEAL CAKE 
1 1/4 c. boiling water
1 c. rolled oats, uncooked
1/2 c. water
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Pour boiling water over oats, cover and let stand 20 minutes. In another bowl, beat butter until creamy. Add sugars and beat until fluffy. Blend in vanilla and eggs. Add oat mixture and mix well. Sift together the dry ingredients and add to the creamed mixture. Pour batter into a well greased and floured 9 inch square pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 50-55 minutes. DO NOT REMOVE CAKE FROM PAN!

FROSTING:

1/4 c. melted butter
1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
2 tbsp. milk
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)
3/4 c. flaked coconut

Combine all ingredients and spread on top of cake. Broil until frosting becomes bubbly.
