1 c. shortening
2 eggs
1/2 c. cocoa mix together with 1 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. flour
Pinch of salt

Mix well. Add 1 cup boiling coffee or boiling water. Bake 350 degrees for about 35 minutes.
