UPSIDE-DOWN APPLE PECAN PIE | |
2 tbsp. butter, softened 30 pecan halves 1/3 c. packed light brown sugar 1 recipe 2 crust pie pastry 6 c. sliced apples 3/4 c. sugar 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. nutmeg Milk Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Line 9-inch pie plate with 13-inch foil circle, leaving 1-inch overhang. Spread with butter. Press pecans round side down in butter Pat brown sugar into butter. Roll half the pastry into 11-inch circle; fit into pie plate. Mound mixture of next 5 ingredients in pastry. Top with remaining pastry; seal and flute. Prick with fork. Brush lightly with milk. Bake for 10 minutes. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes. Invert onto plate. Serve warm. Yield: 8 servings. |
