BREAKFAST BREAK COFFEE CAKE | |
1 1/2 c. flour 1/4 c. granulated sugar 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder 3/4 tsp. salt 1/4 c. shortening 3/4 c. milk 1 egg 1/3 c. chopped walnuts 1/4 c. brown sugar (packed) 1/4 tsp. cinnamon 1 c. cherry preserves 1/2 c. confectioners' sugar 1/4 tsp. vanilla About 1 1/2 tsp. water Heat oven 375. Grease square pan 9x9x2 inches. In large bowl, blend flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, shortening, milk and egg thoroughly with fork. Beat vigorously 30 seconds. Spread batter into prepared pan. Mix nuts, brown sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over batter. Drop preserves by spoonfuls over brown sugar mixture. Bake 25-30 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Combine confectioners' sugar, vanilla and water. Drizzle over warm coffee cake. |
