BUTTERMILK POUND CAKE 
1/2 c. Crisco
1/2 c. butter
2 c. sugar
3 c. plain flour
2 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. baking soda
Pinch of salt
1 tbsp. lemon extract
1 tbsp. vanilla extract
Powdered sugar and water (for icing, if desired)

Cream shortening and butter well. Add sugar to mixture and cream together. Add eggs, one at a time. Add extracts. Sift together flour, salt and baking soda. Add flour to batter, alternating with buttermilk. Pour into a well greased and floured bundt pan. Bake at 350 degrees F. for about 1 hour and 15 minutes (depending on oven) until done. Cool. Drizzle icing over cake, if desired.
