PICKLED BEETS 
1/2 bushels beets
2 c. sugar
2 c. water
2 c. vinegar
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves

Cut stein 2 inches from beets. Boil beets until tender; put in a large pan. Take out and skin beets and put in a another pan. Add sugar, water, vinegar. Put spices in a small bag; put in with beets. Simmer 15 minutes. Fill jar and seal.
